Best Yarn for Puffy Crochet Hearts

• SMALL CROCHET HEART - Use a fingering yarn (4ply) with a 2.75-3.5 mm hook or DK yarn with a 3 mm hook.

1. Start with a magic circle. This pattern really does need a magic ring to start because you want to be able to pull it closed really tightly.
2. Round 1: 6 sc into magic ring. (6sts)
3. Round 2: 2 sc in each stitch around (12sts)
4. Round 3: * sc, 2 sc in next st repeat from * around (18sts)
5. Rounds 4–5: sc in each stitch around (18sts). It will form a cup shape.

The rounds are worked in continuous rounds and not joined with a slip stitch.

6. Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail.
7. Repeat for the second top of the heart.
8. Sew 2 stitches together from each round, using the long tail.

16. You can now start stuffing the heart with fiberfill, or a similar stuffing. This needs to be done before the opening gets too small!

17. Round 13: * sc, dec, repeat from * all the way around (8sts)
18. Round 14: dec all the way round.(4sts)
19. Using your crochet hook, push a last little bit of stuffing into this tiny gap.

   You will now increase less often, to make the bump start curling up into a cup shape.
5. Round 6: * Sc into first 7 sts, 2 sc into next st. Repeat from * all around, 1 sc into last dc (28 sts)
6. Round 7: * Sc into first 8 sts, 2 sc into next st. Repeat from * all around, 1 sc into last sc. (32 sts)
7. Round 8: * Sc into first 9 sts, 2 sc into next st, repeat from * all around,1 sc into last sc. (34 sts)
8. Round 9: Sc into each st all the way round.
9. Fasten off and leave a long tail for joining. When you have made the second bump, do not fasten off.
10. Use the tail from the first bump to connect the two bumps. Sew bumps together with 4 stitches from each. Use whip stitching across those four stitches to join them. The two bumps (before sewing) would total 68 stitches.

You will have 60 stitches total after sewing them together to begin the main section of the heart. Before continuing, make sure you have 60 stitches.

Bottom of Amigurumi Heart Crochet Pattern

1. Round 1: Sc into each of the 60 sts. Do not join, continue working in a spiral.
2. Round 2: * Sc into next 8 sts, sc 2 tog. Repeat from * 6 times. (54sts)
