Gauge

Each granny square measures 9 inches (23cm) diagonally. Approximately 6 3/8 inches (16cm) each side. (Make the blanket a multiple of the diagonal of the granny square.

Supplies

• Yarn: Chunky/Bulky (category #5, 12ply) in 4 colors.
• Crochet hook: Use a 6.5 mm hook or a size that meets the gauge.
• Tapestry needle: to weave ends.

First, you will need to crochet granny squares for the border and join them together. Next, you will move on to the chevron stripes. The final touch is adding the tassels to the points.

Granny Square Round 1

1. Start with a magic ring, or chain 4 and join into a ring with a slip stitch.     
2. Chain 3 (counts as first dc), 2dc into your ring.  
3. *Ch2, 3dc into ring. Repeat from * 2 more times.
4. Ch 2, join with a slip stitch at the top of the chain 3. (4 clusters)
5. Cut yarn and fasten off.

Round 2

1. Join new yarn into any corner chain space.
2. Chain 3 (counts as first dc), 2dc, ch2, 3 dc, all into the same space.
3. *(3dc, ch2, 3dc) into next corner. Repeat from * 2 more times.
4. Join with a slip stitch at the top of the chain 3. (8 clusters)
5. Cut yarn and fasten off.

Round 3

1. Join new yarn into any corner chain space.
2. Chain 3 (counts as first dc), 2dc, ch2, 3 dc, all into the same space.

4. 3dc into next 2 side spaces.

1. Work out your desired blanket width as a multiple of 9 inches (the diagonal measurement of the granny square).
2. Make the required number of granny squares.
3. Block the squares after you have finished and weave ends.

Joining Squares for the Chunky Blanket

1. Arrange the squares on the diagonal.
2. Start at the corner shown. Join yarn in the corner and chain 1 and single crochet in the corner.
3. Single crochet in each stitch to next corner (peak). 2sc into the peak corner.

1. Rejoin yarn in color 1 (tan) at the far right of the border in the corner. Chain 3 (counts as 1dc), sk2.
2. *(3dc, sk2) 4 times. You will be just before the peak. Chain 3, skip 2.
3. (3dc, sk2) 4 times. You will be at the valley. Skip 6. *
4. Repeat from * to end 3 stitches. Skip 2, end with dc. Turn. NOTE: Each side will have 4 clusters

Rest of Cluster Rows

1. Chain 1, skip first gap and 3dc into second gap. (Not the gap at the base of the chain. 3dc into the next gaps.
2. At the peak (3dc, ch3, 3dc) into the chain.
3. 3dc into the next 3 gaps. At the valley, skip the gap and crochet into the next gap along the side.
4. Continue until the end. Finish with 1dc into the 3^rd chain of the turning chain.

Repeat the Blanket Pattern

1. Repeat the previous row until your blanket is the desired length size.
2. I changed yarn color every 4 rows.

Finishing and Adding the Tassels
