DIY napkins for kids lunchboxes are a great way to bring a smile at lunchtime. They are really easy to make in under 5 minutes and you can personalize the fabrics to your child’s personality.
DIY Napkins
Cut 2 pieces of contrasting fabric 10 x 10 inches (25x25cm). This will give you a nice size for kids that is not too large. Try to use pure cotton or other absorbent fabrics so your finished napkin will mop up any lunch time mess.
Put your 2 fabric pieces with their right sides together and stitch all the way around with a 1/4 inch (6mm) seam allowance and leave a 2 inch (5cm) gap on one side.
Clip the 4 corners and turn the napkin the right way out through the gap.
Give it a good press making sure your corners are looking nice and square. The seam allowance at the gap should be pressed to the inside.
Finally, topstitch all the way around the edge.
Now all ready for packing in lunch boxes tomorrow. I made this pretty green one for my little fussy eater. If only I was as good at cooking as I am at sewing!
