STYLE 1 - PLAIN DOLL PILLOWCASE
To make a plain pillowcase for your doll bed pillow, cut 2 pieces of fabric
- FRONT – 11 ¼ inches (28.5cm) x 7 inches (17.8cm)
- BACK – 13 ¼ inches (33.5cm) x 7 inches (17.8cm)
On the WRONG side of both the front and back piece, press one of the short edges over by ¼ inch (6mm) and then ¼ inch (6mm) again to form a narrow hem. Stitch across the hems.
Put the front and back together with the RIGHT sides together aligning the unhemmed edges.
Fold the hemmed end of the back over the front.
Stitch around the sides and bottom with a ¼ inch (6mm) seam. Finish the edges with a zig-zag stitch or serger to stop them fraying and clip the corners.
Turn your doll pillowcase to the RIGHT side and give it a good press.
All finished and ready to put your doll pillow insert inside! Ready for play.
STYLE 2 - TAILORED DOLL PILLOWCASE
To make a pillowcase with a border for your doll bed pillow, cut 3 pieces of fabric
- FRONT –9 ½ inches (24cm) x 7 inches (17.8cm)
- BORDER – 4 ½ inches (11.4cm) x 7 inches (17.8cm)
- BACK – 13 ¾ inches (35cm) x 7 inches (17.8cm)
Press the border in half width-wise with the WRONG sides together.
With RIGHT sides together, stitch the border to the front along one edge. Finish the seam.
Open up the border and press the seam. I added some pretty lace along the seam.
On the WRONG side of the back piece, press one of the short edges over by ¼ inch (6mm) and then ¼ inch (6mm) again to form a narrow hem. Stitch across the hem.
Put the front and back together with RIGHT sides together aligning the unhemmed edges.
Fold the hemmed end of the back over the front border.
Stitch around the sides and bottom with a ¼ inch (6mm) seam. Finish the edges with a zig-zag stitch or serger to stop them fraying. Clip the bottom corners.
Turn your pillow to the RIGHT side and give it a good press. And now you have 2 great looking doll pillowcases ready to insert into your pillow insert.
