Construction

Your foundation chain is a multiple of 10+3. If you wish to make your wrap wider or narrower, adjust the number of chains.

1. Chain 193 (multiple of 10 +3). Dc into 4^th chain and across row. Turn.
2. Ch3 (counts as first dc), dc across row. Last dc into turning chain (191 sts).

Row 3 (Mesh)

1. Chain 3 (counts as first dc), dc in next 3 stitches.
2. *Ch1, sk1, dc. Repeat from * across row to last 5 stitches.
3. Ch1, sk1, dc into last 4 stitches. (Last dc into turning chain.)

Row 4, 5, 6 (3 Double Crochet Rows)

1. ROW 4 – Ch3 (counts as first dc), dc across row. (You will dc in the top of the previous row dc, and into the chain-1 spaces, ending with a dc in the turning chain.)
2. ROW 5 and 6 -Ch3 (counts as first dc), dc across row. Last dc in turning chain.

Continue

1. Repeat rows 3 to 6 (Mesh, 3 dc rows) 3 more times.
2. Repeat row 3 (mesh) and end with 2 double crochet rows. (total 21 rows)

Peacock Stitch Border

Border Row 1

1. Ch1 (doesn’t count as stitch), sc into base of chain.
2. *Sk 4, 9 tr into next stitch, sk 4, sc in the next stitch.
3. Repeat from * across the row until you have 5 stitches left.
4. Sk 4 sts and work a sc into the last stitch. Turn. (19 peacock scallops)

Row 2 Border

1. Ch 4 (counts as first tr). Tr into the first sc stitch below.
2. *Ch 3, sc into the 5th tr of the previous row (middle of the scallop).
3. Ch 3, 2tr into the sc of the previous row.

4. Through BOTH layers – Sc in the 4^th and 5^th treble stitches.
5. Continue step 3 and 4, three more times (5 scallops joined).
6. Fasten off and weave ends. See how only the middle of the scallops are joined when the seam is opened.
