Sizing

76 x 10 inches (193 x 25 cm). Adjust by altering the number of rows.

Supplies

• Bulky/chunky weight yarn (12ply, category #5). 420m (460y) of color A and 420m(460y) color B
• 8mm crochet hook or size to meet gauge.
• Tapestry needle

I used 4 skeins of Lion Brand Hue and Me in Sea Glass and Salt (2 each). Use any chunky weight yarn.

• dc = double crochet stitch
• ch = chain stitch
• YO = yarn over

Row 1

1. Using color A, chain 26.
2. Insert hook into 2^nd chain from hook, sc across. Turn.

Row 2

• Chain 1 (doesn’t count as stitch). Sc.
• * Skip 2 stitches. Dc 5 into the next stitch, skip 2, sc. (first shell cluster).
• Repeat from * to end. You should end with a single crochet. Turn.

Row 3

1. Chain 3 (counts as a dc), 2dc into base of chain.
2. *Sc into middle dc (3^rd dc of the shell) of previous row. 5dc into the sc of the previous row.
3. Repeat from * to the last stitch which is a single crochet below.
4. 3dc into the top of the single crochet. Turn.

Row 4.

1. Chain 1 (doesn’t count as stitch), sc into base of chain.
2. *5dc into the sc of the previous row, Sc into middle dc (3^rd dc of the shell) of previous row.
3. Repeat to last stitch which will be a single crochet into the 3^rd chain of the row below.

Rows 4 to 13

Repeat rows 3 and 4. (Total of 12 shell rows)

Row 14-19

You will alternate colors in the same repeat pattern of rows 3 and 4

TIP: Crochet over the color change ends to minimize the amount of weaving in at the ends.

• Row 14 – color B
• Row 15 – color A
• Row 16 – color B
• Row 17 – color A
• Row 18 – color B
• Row 19 – color A

Row 20-31

Continue in color B for 12 rows.

Fasten off and weave ends.
